Many long years have passed since I have seen my motherland
not coming back to the green bamboo hedges
Warm golden sunshine on the other side of the fence
The smile from thence, where has it gone?
Many long years since I have I left my motherland
Visiting with nostalgia the Ben Cat misty with dew
Mirrored images dancing on water, the drifting clouds over Doi Vong
Canh
Boats returning aimlessly float near the Bai Dau shores
Who's yearning and who's leaving who makes promises
Who loves who remains, who's longing for whom
Spring showers, summer sun, autumn leaves turned color
Winter comes, slower days only add to loneliness
Who's piling up every passing year
Keep for me my innocent days
Many long years have passed since I have seen my motherland
A life of vagrancy on a foreign land
Many seasons of rain and shine across the thousand miles
Through the ups and downs of life mingled with whose country land
Many long years since I have left my motherland
For whom I lovingly search in vastness beyond
Small arms furtively embrace the innocent childhood days
Halfway around the earth - suddenly a world away.

Bao năm rồi không về thăm quê mẹ
Không về nhìn bao lũy tre xanh
Nắng hanh vàng bên kia bờ dậu
Nụ cười xưa giờ phiêu bạt nơi đâu
Bao năm rồi tôi rời xa xứ mẹ
Nhớ nhung về Bến Cát mờ sương
Bóng nước mây đưa Đồi Vọng Cảnh
Thuyền về trôi dạt Bãi Dâu xưa
Người nhớ người đi người hẹn hò
Ai thương ai ở ai nhớ nhung
Mưa xuân nắng hạ thu vàng lá
Đông đến ngày dài thêm bơ vơ
Ai đem dồn lại bao năm cũ
Giữ lại cho tôi tuổi dại khờ
Bao năm rồi không về thăm quê mẹ
Sống trôi dạt trên vạt đất người
Bao mùa mưa nắng qua ngàn dặm
Bước thăng trầm vương vấn quê ai
Bao năm rồi tôi rời xa xứ mẹ
Lưu luyến tìm ai trong mênh mông
Tay nhỏ chợt ôm ngày thơ dại
Nửa vòng trái đất bỗng xa xôi..
