Dear ERCT
As
his friend, I would like to introduce Professor Diep The Hung, an Exryu of
Kobe University to ERCT.
Dr.
Diep The Hung is currently Professor of Physics at the University of
Cergy-Pontoise, France. He
also is the Director of Laboratory for Theoretical Physics and
Modelisation of the French National Center for Scientific Research and
Director of Department of Physics.
His reseach interest includes statistical physics, theory of
magnetism, condensed-matter physics, computer simulation, etc.
He
became a full professor of the university in 1991, then the first class
professor in 1994 and a distinguished professor from 2001.
He was nominated in 2001 as "Knight in the Academic
Order" by French Ministry of Education, Research and Technology, a
distinction for the service he has done for the nation in Education and
Research (the honor title is equivalent to Sir in United Kingdom).
He
published more than 100 scientific papers and three books in physics.
He directed more than 10 Ph.D. in his research laboratory.
Professor
Hung studied in Japan from 1971 to 1975.
He had earned a Master degree in Physics from Kobe University
before he went to University of Paris 7, France where he obtained his
Ph.D. in 1979.
Hung
is a native of Tuy Hoa, VietNam, married and has 4 children. Hung is
interested not only in physics but also in poetry.
I
would like to let you know that Hung is very unique from Vietnamese and
Japanese standards. His close friends describe him as a sensitive and
passionate person with a high sense of humor.
Those who do not know him might have controversial impressions at
the first sight. My wife
thought that Hung looks like Charles Bronson with a lady-killer smile. My
Japanese sensei impressed Hung as an artist rather than a scientist when
Hung with long hair to his shoulder visited Tohokudai, Sendai. One of his
friends, a French girl with PhD in economy from Sorbone University, once
told me that Hung is very talented. Both
of us laughed when I humorously responded to her that I do not know all
his talents. In reality, Hung is a passionate, highly creative scientist
and a family-oriented man.
For
more information about Professor Hung's research and poems, please visit
his web site created by the University of Cergy-Pontoise.
